i really wanted to replay rayman 2 (i have the cd version) but it just won't launch. It installs but refuses to run. Anybody has any idea how to make it run.

If that fails: does the gog version work? I might just rebuy it then...

i think the GOG ver will work. i hear old games on CD will not work on Windows 10 at all.

The GOG version isn't optimized for WIn10 and may not work, but it works fine for me on Win10. Regarding the CD release it has a few problems that the GOG version fixed, such as the pirate head popping up and saying that the CD is not inserted when it is, though I'm not sure about the game not launching. Have you tried the usual stuff like running it as admin and turning on compatibility mode?
Thanks for the replies!

After much experimentation I got it to run with a combination of compatibility issues and nglide settings and stuff like that. It took a huge amount of trying though...

Do you know exactly when those issues arise (pirate head and cd issue?). Is it far into the game?

Glad you got it to work! The pirate head issue is later in the game, I think it's either The Sanctuary of Stone and Fire or The Echoing Caves if I remember correctly. Of course the game can still be played but you'll have a pirate head covering the whole screen, so it will be A LOT harder.

I found a video showing it: https://youtu.be/Q8DOZUloDhQ?t=5m12s
Look at the end of the video and you'll see the pirate head glitch. This video actually shows The Sanctuary of Rock and Lava so it may appear in different levels for different people I guess. Maybe you can get it to never appear, I don't know.

Yup just got it in the echoing caves. And in a difficult spot too so I am stuck. No patches seem to fix this (I even tried a no cd patch but that didn't even work). Guess I'll rebuy it... I'll wait for a sale though.

Don't worry, R2 CD version will work in Windows 10 Redstone as well as W10 TH2 the previous version.

OK you have CD version = Retail CD not GOG's and having the problem "NOT LAUNCH" and Pirate's Head in GXSetup.

In Windows 10 64bit,

1. Just after the installation you have to run GXSetup.exe to save ubi.ini file in \Windows\ubisoft.
GXSetup.exe's compatibility must be "WindowsXP SP2", and "Run as Admin"
----- This is the remedy to "Pirate's Head"
And better to copy ubi.ini to game installed directory for the use I suggest later.

2. Then run R2 from the desktop shortcut with "Run as Admin".

3. If you got "Please Insert Rayman II CD in CDROM Drive", you must put R2 CD in the CD-ROM drive.
If you try to use another MOD such as NO-CD exe, that's another thing in this forum.

4 Doubleclicking Rayman2.exe will also the way to start the game, in which case you need ubi.ini file in the game installed directory.

Old thread but just wanted to say that I have had no problems running Rayman 2 on win 10. At least the first few hours I have played so far the game has been working good! :)
