So i bought Rayman 2 for the second time already.
First time it didn't go past the launch screen so i refunded it, but now i saw someone on YouTube actually playing it so i decided to buy it again.

and now it just won't launch at all.
I run it, get the 3dfx logo, and... black screen forever
the config file is doing the same.

I'm running it on win 8.1 64bit, don't think the rest of my specs are needed

just.. help me play my favorite game of all time...

Try manually editing the ubi.ini file and changing it to DirectX instead of nGlide.

Ok so that worked and the game is running, but i stumbled upon a problem i had the previous time i bought the game
Right after the initial drop (when Rayman is sliding down this tunnel thingy and falls off the airship) the game crashes.

Any solution to this? Last time i just refunded the game because i didn't know what to do..

I have the same problem and none of the solutions I've tried work. Namely the ones from here:

What the fuck is going on and how do I fix it? I want to play the game!

Try installing nGlide(Google it, it doesn't let me put links here). I had the same issue and after installing nGlide the game launched(even though, at first it seems that it isn't working and you have to wait a little bit) and it's perfectly playable.

Edit:
After the installation you can edit some video settings in nglide_config.exe(resolution, V-sync, etc.) located in your main Rayman 2 file.

Just let the game go for 15 min and will run normal, i get same issue of screen flickering black and going back to window mode after 3dfx logo shows and ya take awile to run but at least it works better then steam verson that i have that the textures are not working at all lol
