It crashes and return a error message stating that the program had to be closed.
If I mark compatibility with win95 or 98 the game runs slow and the audio is crap.

This question / problem has been solved by Triobaaliimage
Try to first configure resolution of the game. The configuration tool can be founded in the start menu folder of "GOG.com-Rayman 2". It can be also found in the place where the installer setuped it (default folder is C:/Program Files/GOG.com/Rayman 2/), in there it is named as GXSetup. It probably crash because your computer can't handle lowest resolution, so choose one that matches with your current native desktop resolution.

EDIT: The game may also randomly crash occasionally when you first time start it after computer boots up. I don't know if it's caused by resolution or not, but you should first try to change it.

Nope, I already changed the resolutions... 3 times. =\
Nothing happened, but thanks for the reply.

EDIT: WTF? It's running know... I have no idea what happened all this time (I tried to run the game many times) but its perfect know. =D

Maybe it was a combination of "native resolution" plus a "restar windows", anyway...
I'll mark your post as a solution to "finish" this topic.

That was great news for you pal. Hopefully this will help somebody else that have similiar problem. I bet you are pleased to finally get change to play this good old game. :)
Hmmm I have the same problem, also, after change a lot of time resolution, compatibility settings, and game folder, the game runned perfectly.
But I reboot my machine and the problem it's back.
Now the "solution" is try to run the game several times, and maybe one of these works. It's clearly a critical bug.
It's possible to contact with Ubisoft in order to have this bug fixed?

EDIT: I found a solution for the error, unfortunately it's not suitable to many players:
I installed Rayman 2 on Linux, replaced the dinput library for the native one(using winetricks), and use qjoypad in order to use my gamepad.
