As said in the title, Rayman 2 will no longer detect DirectX mode in the config. This seemed to happen after I tried out the widescreen patch listed here: http://pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Rayman_2:_The_Great_Escape#Widescreen_resolution

Now the config won't detect DirectX with either the modified widescreen or the original. Running Windows 10 64 bit by the way. Anyone got ideas as to why the Rayman 2 config won't detect DirectX mode? Was working fine a few seconds ago.

Fixed it by editing the ubi.ini file, but I can't get 32 bit mode to work. Did Rayman 2 support 32 bit color mode in DirectX? Could have sworn it worked in 32 bit color for me before.

The config has been like that for me since I upgraded to Win10. The only way I could fix it was by manually editing the ubi.ini file like you did. To answer your question about 32-bit, no, Rayman 2 does not support that. 16-bit is the max you can do.

Very odd as I was actually able to change it to DirectX mode in the config after I upgraded to Win 10. It was when I tried out the widescreen mod when the config messed up, strange. In any case, at least I was able to work around the broken config using that ubi.ini file. Perhaps it was because I had the game installed prior to upgrading to Win 10?

Thanks for the answer on 16 and 32 bit modes, i'm not quite as familiar with the different tweaks and options with PC games of that era. I really didn't start seriously gaming on PC until 2009 when I signed up on gog.
