It notified me that STARTUP.EXE, CLIENT.EXE, RAYRUN.EXE, MAPPER.EXE contain malware called W95/CIH:

Avira is legendary for producing a lot of false positives.

Thanks for reply, but I'D still like to hear a statement from the GoG staff. I don't trust Ubisoft that well...

Try one of the many online virus scanner services like this one:

MSE doesnt find any viruses btw and considering how old the detected malware is supposed to be you can be pretty sure that the download is clean.

Nothing from NOD32 btw.

My Avast came up with some false positives and moved them to the chest.

AVG threw some up, apparantly it moved the files, I can still play the game though so i'm guessing false positive.

Mine certainly is. I just installed Rayman Forever, and my Avast flagged 4 files and moved them to the chest.

FYI Microsoft Security Essentials flagged 2 files as viruses as well.

this happened when my son installed the program. it doesn't appear to be solved!

It is solved, because there is no problems with GOG's files: it's your anti-virus that's too overprotective and triggering a virus error. You need to report this to the software vendor of your anti-virus (eg Symantec for Norton) and tell them to stop triggering a virus error on these files.
