Hello, I just got the GOG.com version of Rayman Forever and found out it needs a patch to restore the original soundtrack and FMVs to it. I chose the Rayman Forever DX+ patch since it also has a bunch of bonus levels included, but I'm not familiar with how installing a patch works for games on here (is it hard to do?), so any help is really appreciated!

I'm also experiencing a lot of slowdown/music lag when I play this game on my laptop (even when played in a low resolution windowed mode), which isn't a problem Im having with other GOG games I play on my laptop. Is it just an issue for this game or can be fixed with the right settings? Just curious.

Hi, the installation for DX+ is as simple as copying over a few files. Go to the game's directory (by default c:\gog games\Rayman Forever\) and copy the zip's contents there. You'll know it worked if "Rayman 40 Levels" is present on the bootup screen.

As for the slowdown, I've noticed the problem myself before I installed DX+. The patch should help, but I also had to change the graphic mode to surface. You can do that either through the dosboxRayman.conf or through the "Launch Graphic Mode Setup." Try turning off double buffering if nothing else works.

Thank you! Sorry I didn't reply back sooner! I installed the patch, tinkered with the DOSBox cycle settings, and bam, it works now! Almost all of the stuttering and slowdown goes away with 10000-15000 cycles! Woo woo!

yes after i set the patch. the game now feels complete with the music, cutscenes and add-ons restored. but about the slow-downs and stuttering is being a big issue for me for a long time, but i finally fix it!!!, on the doxbox config file change:

fulldouble=true
fullresolution=desktop
output=ddraw
core=dynamic
cycle=29000

the game finally works perfecly without slow-downs or stutterings they way GOG should have set it up from day one.

in the game menu whatever you do do not change the refresh rate of 60hz to 50hz it will slow the game to a crawl.

sadly i wasn’t able to fix the game's choppy cutscenes. but lets be honest the cutscenes add so little to the game considering the plot is a very basic fairytale storybook style narrative and all the characters are one-dimensional, unlike the sequels the plot in the first game is not the focus.
Are the cutscenes on yt ?
Thank you so much! This info made Rayman on PC what I thought it should be!
I'm the creator of the Rayman Forever DX+ patch, the reason why I didn't include an edited dosboxRayman.conf file is because if you launch the Graphic Mode Setup utility and select reset settings, it undoes all the changes I made to it, so I figured it was kind of pointless to include it since the user can just manually configure them anyway. I could add the file if you guys want me to though.
Are there any other dosbox tweaks that'd make for a better experience than the ones listed already? The FMV is a bit choppy, and ddraw mode is a tiny bit blurrier than overlay. Also, pause menu is slower after applying the changes mentioned above.

P.S. Do please share the config, and thank you for the patch!
