funny enought in full screen mode the cutscene bars stay so yeah, all the other versions dont have that problem (tried them on some emu) and gotta say the gamecube rayman 3 plus hd texture pack is probably the best u can get for rayman.

FunkyFinzy: I installed the game and installed the patch and trying to launch the game, either via GOG or through the .exe does nothing. Trying to run them as admin also does nothing. The config .exes won't launch either. Any ideas? Using Windows 10 64 bit.
Same here. Have tried a bunch of suggested fixes, but no dice... neither EXE will launch.

Edit: Right after posting this, I think I figured it out! Figures!

Here's what seems to have worked for me:

1. I downloaded a fresh install of Rayman 3 from GOG.
2. Before installing Better Rayman 3, I ran Rayman3.exe as an administrator, saved a configuration and confirmed that the program opened as intended.
3. I downloaded the Better Rayman 3 installer and ran it as an administrator. (Every post I saw online talked about running the config and/or game as administrator, not the installer).
4. Once the installer finished, I ran BR3_Config.exe as an administrator and it worked.
5. Finally, running Rayman3.exe as an administrator worked.

For some reason, I had to do those last two steps a couple of times in a row for all my chosen settings to take effect. But now it seems to work as intended (Windows 10 64-bit).

I also get letterboxed gameplay. Any way to fix it??
Hello
I've only tested the game shortly but everything except the right stick seems to work properly.

The only other problem I have is that I can't change the game language, it stays in english no matter what I do:
I've tried running BR3_Config.exe as admin, running R3_Setup_DX8.exe as admin, changing the language.ini file, nothing seems to work.

I guess I'll try to do a clean install and change the laguage before installing the patch and see how it goes.

It fixes for me weirdly enough when I plug my controller in and out

I can't get the game to run at all. I own a boxed copy, and installed the game from the 3 CDs. Installer runs fine. After installation, the game simply doesn't launch. Same with the R3_Setup_DX8 and BR3_Config. Installing the patch doesn't seem to alter anything, so I guess I have a more low-level issue. Any pointers would be appreciated.

For those who are having problems with blacks bars on Rayman 3, probrably its due the fact that your monitor is 144hz or higher. To fix it, just lower it to 100hz, which is the max refresh rate supported by the game, on windows advanced display setings or in your nvidia controll panel.

I'm having the black bar issue with a 165Hz monitor and it seems to be to do with BetterR3, because the vanilla game doesn't have any issue. Switching to an older 60Hz monitor did fix the issue. My right analog stick is also bugged - moving vertically pans the camera horizontally, and vice versa. Any fixes?

I know it's been a while since your post, and you most likely have it fixed already but I'll post this for the sake of anyone who needs it.

For a Right Analog Stick fix, run "BR3_Config.exe" and set Horizontal Axis to 3, and Vertical Axis to 4. OK out of it and retry the game.

I'm not sure why those specific numbers, but it helped me.
Installed this mod recently. Set the resolution to 1920x1080 (16:9), but, because of this, FMV do not play (cutscene videos appear black with sound still working) and menu elements are out of place. Tried to set it to 1024x768 and everything worked perfectly but of course i want to play 16:9. Have anyone encountered this before? Any ideas how to fix? Any help would be appreciated.

P.S. I did tried the solution from there [I can't post links but it was some guide from wsgf org] to replace .exe files from widescreen.zip, but it didn't worked.

There is a simpler solution for you all: you have to set "D3d8to9=1" in the file d3d8.ini of your Rayman 3 install folder.
I think it gets installed with "BetterRayman3". So it looks like the problem is DirectX 8. With that parameter you set it to DirectX9.

Here is the content of that file.
;; Config file for DirectX DLL Wrapper
[General]
LoadCustomDllPath = BetterRayman3.dll

[Compatibility]
D3d8to9 = 1
DdrawCompat = 0
ForceTermination = 0
SingleProcAffinity = 0

[Window]
FullScreen = 0
WaitForWindowChanges = 0

if you alt-tab out of the game (game minimizes) then the game will crash when you return to the game.

This doesn't fix the issue for me, black bars still remain after cutscenes. As others have stated, certain game mechanics break above 60fps, so unfortunately the only real solution currently is to limit your fps.
