Here is a blast from the past for sure, was the first game I ever got for PC.

I have a problem with the visuals shaking when playing, like a constant judder of the action screen from side to side. The bottom menu stays still, but just get this constant shuddering effect. The crosshair also constantly flickers about.

I'm running on XP SP3. Graphics card is 9800GTX+

Changing compatibility modes and resolution makes no difference.

If I enable "force software" in the options, then it stabilises the shuddering but looks like rubbish and only runs at about what feels like 5 frames per second, basically unplayable.

Runs at proper speed with force software off, but just this shuddering is driving me nuts.

Anyone had similar, or got any fixes?

I've got the original boxed game upstairs, I might try installing that and seeing if I get the same.

Thanks for any advice.
I have the same problem, though when i ran the game the first time it didnt happen.
What's worse is that it also happens in Rogue Spear. It's the exact same phenomenon, so i guess it is somehow engine-related since they both run on the same engine.
I havent found a fix for this yet, and it's ruining the games for me.
God, how i yearn to play my beloved R6 properly again...
Thanks for replying, at least someone else is having similar issues.

I fear you may be right about the engine. These games were never designed with XP and Vista in mind I guess.
I changed the desktop icon's compatibility mode to windows98/ME and it works now.
Well it does not work now but have found an interesting solution. Open www.marcromedia.com (yes, misspelled) in Firefox (or maybe in any browser) and keep it opened. It worked for me. Don't ask why.

Running Gamespy Arcade in the background on Windows XP, 7, or 10 smooths out the shaky mouse in Rainbow Six. This trick also helps for Rogue Spear, original Ghost Recon, Jedi Knight: Dark Forces 2, and Outlaws.
