Another thing that worked for me under Windows 10 is to just delete winmm.dll from the game directory. I assume it's then defaulting to the one in Windows\System32.
I just upgraded the same PC I was using earlier to Windows 10, with the same hardware as before. Deleting winmm.dll from the directory made it work. Considering that my laptop uses AMD and it doesn't work with or without that fix, I concluded that AMD graphics cards/drivers are the problem (both my desktop and laptop use AMD CPU's, so those are not a problem here).
Can anyone help me to get this to work?

I have the original CD version and I am running Windows 10 with an Nvidia card.

I have tried everything to get this game to work but the furthest I can get is a crash that says "Rainbowsix.exe has stopped working"

My Sherman.log file refers to the Voxware codec, but I read that this is not the root cause of the game not working.

I have tried:

- all compatibility modes
- editing the Redstorm Entertainment section of the registry to change Fullscreen from TRUE to FALSE
- copying windmm.dll files from working versions of Rainbow six on Windows XP an Windows 7 systems
- replacing the files that are meant to fix the broken music specifically for Windows 10
- copying my system's windmm.dll file from C:/Windows/System32
- Voodoo wrappers
- DXWnd
- copying all files and replacing them from working instances of R6

Help!!
I have this from Ubisoft Uplay, (as well as on the original CDs, but I am not using those), so cannot guarantee this will work for you. Howver, for me, all it required was to navigate to the executable, bring up properties and set compatibility options:

XP SP3

16 bit graphics

Run as Admin

It runs in a window, and appears to work fine - video, music, sound. This is under Windows 10 x64, and my video card is an AMD RX480 with the latest drivers.
What Ive tried

- Running in XP Service Pack 3 compatability
- 16 bit colour mode
- Run as administrator
- Replacing winmm.dll with the one from system 32
- Deleting winmm.dll
- Replacing winmm.dll with the one from the X-wing thread.

Every time i just get a black screen, and if I click anywhere the game crashes. Does anyone know anything else I can possibly try?
Game now runs great but without the music...(A HUGE PART OF THE GAME)...

Anyway, I run a multi-boot system and I am able to get everything working, including music, under Windows Vista, Windows 7 32 bit and Windows 7 64 bit.

I was able to solve the mouse-arrow-won't-go-away problem using nomousy + a basic bat file script. Post here if you need the details on it and I will reply.

DGVoodoo2 works great for improving the graphics and taken in conjunction with the Nvidia control panel, you can really make the game look great.

I figured out that the program that makes the music work without the cd is called dsfvorbisdecoder and you can see the .dll files in the main folder (libvorbis.dll, libogg.dll, etc.)

It works so well in fact that I am able to take my files from a working Eagle Watch installation and add them (exe + data folder is all that is needed) - all music + movies work!

..however, it would be great to get this setup working under Windows 10 and no matter what I try I can not get the music to play.

Is anyone familiar with dsfvorbisdecoder and has anyone had success with it under Windows 10? Someone else in these forums said that they has the music working in Windows 10, so it seems like it would be possible.

Any info would be appreciated...R6 are the greatest PC games ever made
Also, has anyone had success with using the higher resolution settings under DGVoodoo2? (1920x1080, 1920x1200)

If I use any resolution other the "unforced" I get a frozen screen and the game doesn't load.

I have tried running DGVoodoo2's exe with admin privileges, but still no luck. Please reply if anyone knows how to fix it or what could be causing the issue...would love to play this games at 1920x1200!

Thanks!

peace1498: FIXED IT!!! changed the Fullscreen file to FALSE in regedit set compatibility mode to XP and turned on the 16 bit thingy
This worked for me too (win 10 64bit, AMD Radeon HD 6670 card). Though compatibility mode doesn't seem needed, the edit of the registry (Full Screen - TRUE to FALSE - I saw three instances) is required, as is changing the properties of the game's exe to run with 16 bit colour.
This will run the game in a small window. The size of the game window can be increased by changing the resolution within the game settings to 1024x768. There is no need to do anything with dll files. For those getting stuck earlier it is probably because you have not done the registry edits.

Anyone know how to remove the DGVoodoo watermark? The setup .EXE in the program folder doesn't seem to do anything.
