I read the book right after Rogue Spear came out and I really enjoyed it. It's REALLY long, but it's pretty good and many of the big hits in the book were replicated in the game too. :)
I read the book. It's actually so-so, depending on what you're looking for. On one side, the tactical preparation and execution of the missions is VERY well detailed and incredibly interesting. Everything else, however, is boring.

Rainbow Six is a fairly good book about military tactics. Clancy, however, is not exactly the next Hemingway.
A book about tactics? I'd like to give Mr. Clancy the benefit of the doubt however I don't think he had much operational experience. After the past decade of war there are more than enough books that are much more in depth and relative to tactics. In keeping with the topic of the post. yeah, I read the book a long time ago, It is crazy to read about counter terrorism operations pre 911 so much has changed in the last 10 years. I still think this game reflects the most realistic operational planing and execution it is too bad those damn vegas games use the Rainbow Six title it might as well be COD in third person.

Trebor: I've read the book and listened to the "book on tape" of it as well. I found it very entertaining all the way through. Too bad that sort of anti-terrorist group does not exist for real. It would take care of a lot of bad guys out there.
If it did, do you think we would know about it? Try CIA SAD or something along those lines.....
