Firstly, I think Railway Empire is a great game, I have been playing Free Mode For most time since release and I thank the developers for there efforts on this Railway Sim, I have read many of the critics articles and I cannot fathom why they would relate such criticism to this game.
Yes the game has glitches but one can understand the mega hours of coding and be grateful for the fixes already put in place and still being worked on by the developers, keeping in mind the many OS platforms they are catering for..
The Glitches I have noticed are : - When you setup a directional passing track say for instance Passenger and mail only and then create a separate parallel directional line with a passing track for Freight between the same 2 City Stations, when the trains come to the Station they jump to the shortest directional track when there is no switch connection between them.
I noticed that when you review the added line it does show which track is being used, it would be good if you could dedicate a track within that area. This would allow you to run separate parallel directional lines with passing tracks and would greatly ease.congestion. This would be great also for City stations that are close together.
When you add an additional switch at a later stage near a station with multiple tracks to ease congestion it will not highlight green due to the incline difference and cannot be added, this creates a lot of wasted time and money destroying the surrounding track areas in some cases the station to start anew with the additional switch.
There are far too many breakdowns after adding station repair facilities.
There is a bad glitch on the first campaign level of providing Corn through Omaha to Norfolk, the instruction will not advance when this task is completed.
There are other little editing quirks which I am sure are being worked on, realistically they don't bother me.
Overall this is the best Railway Sim I have played and has heaps of future potential.
Being a retired Railway worker I specially love the signalling routines. They are extremely realistic with view to directional running, the tracks can be set up to systems that are still operational in my country today. ie Double Line Block, Automatic Track Control and Centralised Track Control. The only thing that is totally unrealistic is that all sectional signals are at stop and a freight or Passenger train doing thundering speeds are approaching these signals at the stop position as they are rolling to proceed in front of them when the sections ahead are clear. In real life the Locomotive Driver (Engineer) would be immediately stood down taken to a board of enquiry and sacked for approaching red singles at this speed with tonnage anticipating a proceed aspect.
I am in no way involved with the developers of this game and my opinions are definitely my opinions only.
Thanks for the great game, Pete, South East Victoria Australia
ps attached are 2 screenshots of the campaign glitch.
