I love Railroad Tycoon Deluxe but hated most of the changes between it and Railroad Tycoon 2. What are the odds of me liking 3 or Sid Mier's Railroads?

[speaking for the boxed titles, just bought the GoG Package and haven't played it so far]

Can't really say it for Tycoon, as over the years I often replayed 2 and 3 but haven't touched 1 for over more then a decade now... I remember that with each new Tycoon title I missed many from the old, but also welcomed many a thing. 3 has the benefit of the 3D Engine, but somehow there always is (for me) the feeling that there is something missing/not quite the same - and thats why I also replay 2 from time to time (and 'am always missing the tunnels)...
But Railroads -> Somehow it appears to me that I could/would have enjoyed (but not loved) it, but its limited field of view and zoom range made it IMHO unplayable - hope they have changed that over the years since last I touched it.. from what I remember building up a working industry was important and that track building/train management was "oversimplified" compared to tycoon (a.e. you could only expand your existing railway/no independent tracks)
In the days of DOS, I played RRT a lot. I didn't care for RRT 2 or Sid's RRs, although I didn't give Sid's more than a half an hour before having too many issues with view/scrolling.

RRT3 is pretty good. For me, some of the scenarios are silly and take away from the game, but others are ok. there's also a sandbox game. It has 5 somewhat easy scenarios for the US, 5(harder) scenarios for Europe, then there's Asia and Africa, and some futuristic scenarios that seem awkward, as the trains rolling over hills often look more like ships cresting a tall wave than a train rolling on tracks.

My memories of the original RRT are biased, I've not played it for decades. I can't say which is better. I can say, IMO, RRT3 is the best of the railroad games on GOG and has kept me occupied for hours.
