I saw this as well, once. I never managed to get that message a second time for some reason, and the game loads too fast to read it properly.
However I researched some of the other messages that are shown.
There are lots of quotes from poets, I was able to read and remember the names of 3 of them:
Alfred Noyes
Lord Byron
Walt Whitman
(annoyingly I can't post any links yet(?), but you look them up in Wikipedia)
The first one was a christian, the later two were not.
Especially Walt Whitman would have NOT been approved of by today's religious right.
I'll research it a bit more as I catch the messages, but for now the answer to your question seems to be: the game is not annoyingly christian.
