Anyone else get this error frequently? Double-click the icon, the little Grid splash square shows up, screen goes black for a second, then this error pops up.

Sometimes if I wait a while and try it again, it works, but only sometimes. Next time I try launching it, error again.

AMD FX-8350

Same error occurs to me but everytime I try to start GRID. I have tried the German and the English version, no differences, just the same error everytime. The official patches don't work (EDIT: the gog-version is 1.3 already...) and some tips from the internet like the -novirtual-parameter, reinstalling or deactivating lan/sound even don't work for me.

Finally i got it running! :D

Follow these steps:

1. Uncheck everything in the .exe's compatibility mode (not sure if this has to be done).

2. Go to your documents-folder (...Documents\Codemasters\GRID\hardwaresettings).

3. Open hardware_settings_config.xml.

4. Locate the node <graphics_card>.

5.Change its child-node <multisampling> as follows:

<multisampling option="off">
<back_buffer level="0" />
<colour_target level="0" />
<minimap level="0" />
<dynamic_envmap level="0" />
<static_envmap level="0" />
<rear_view_mirror level="0" />
</multisampling>

6. Save the file.

7. Have fun or smash your pc in case of still having the same error message. ^^

If you want to set your graphics settings higher than the maximum in-game, you have to edit them manually:

1. Go to your installation folder\system.

2. Open hardware_settings_restrictions.xml.

3. Locate the node <data>.

4. Delete its child-node <res> or toggle comment it like this:

<data>
<!--
<res mem="270" maxWidth="1280" />
-->
</data>

5. Save the file.

6. Go to your documents-folder (...Documents\Codemasters\GRID\hardwaresettings).

7. Open hardware_settings_config.xml.

8. Locate the node <graphics_card>.

9. Change the attributes of its child-node <resolution> to your desired resolution and aspect ratio like this:

<resolution width="1920" height="1080" aspect="16:9" fullscreen="true" vsync="1" oldWidth="1280" oldHeight="720">

10. Save the file.

11. Run the game. ^^
