I'm playing this game for the first time. I assume that like in QFG 1 & 2 there are certain things that must be accomplished to be able to finish the game and export the character (like buying Abdullah a meal in QFG1).

Can someone please provide list of things that must be done in order to be able to win and export the character in QFG3? War has just started in my current playthrough and I'm not sure if I did everything I needed to do in Tarna (for example, I didn't finish the questline of Harami). I'm playing a wizard if it makes any difference.

Defeat the evil wizard. That is all that's required.
While you should have already met a monkey in the jungle, even if you haven't met him, you will automatically meet him. And for the war to start, you have already dealt with the Leopardmen, so you should have all that you need to proceed.

That doesn't mean that you have done everything you could have done so far, but I don't recall there being any mandatory objectives to be able to finish the game.

And was buying Abdullah a meal really required? Hm, live and learn.

It is not necessary to buy Abdullah a meal in QFG1. The only thing necessary to win the game is brewing the dispel potion and throwing it at the bandit leader; that's it. In my speedrun of QFG1, I never even entered the inn.

QFG games are rather good about avoiding unwinnable conditions. You usually have to do something stupid like throw away a plot-critical item for that to happen. QFG3 is a real stickler for sequencing, and certain events won't become available until you've finished previous ones. I do believe this is designed so you can't reach the end-game without having done everything you need to, but it can make the game frustrating because you need to intuit what it wants you to do next.
Thanks for the help. I just continued playing and finished it.
I proved in the VGA version of QFG1 that you do not even need to get the dispel potion. Check my Youtube account (mrprmiller). I have a run that uses the Thief and beats the game in 4:19.
You have to:

-Befriend Harami
-Go to the Simbani village.
-Get the dispel potions
-Make the Leopardwoman appear (if you're a fighter or paladin, this means beating Uhura at spear-throwing. I'm not sure how to trigger this if you're a wizard or thief)
-Dispel the leopardwoman
-Marry the leopardwoman (or at least do what the Simbani ask you to do to be considered married to her)
-Free the leopardwoman
-Find the leopardwoman in the jungle
-Either give the drum to the leopardwoman or convince her to take you to her village
-Get the Spear of death
-Defeat or get past the demons in the Lost City
-Defeat the Demon Wizard

I think that's everything. Strangely, you do not have to free Manu. Even if you don't free him, he'll still help you when the time comes. Don't ask me how.
Just to edit, there are a few things you can cut out.

-You don't have to befriend Harami. Not even as a Paladin.

-Make the Leopardwoman appear:
- Fighter or Paladin: 125 Throwing status triggers Uhura to play you at spears. You don't have to win, but you do need to play a full round of three spears a piece.
- Wizard: Go to the tree, talk to the glowing orb about the wood, get the blue flowers. Blue flowers triggers the Leopardwoman.
- Thief: Go to the fourth screen of the world map (waterfall). That's it to trigger leopardwoman.

Everything else with cbingham was spot on.
