I always thought it was a little cruel the way they make the Emir Arus Al-Din wait through that whole ceremony in qfg2 before he's restored to his proper form. I understand the whole dramatic effect of it all, but seriously the poor guys been plodding along as a saddle saurus. Why prolong his humiliation?
He'd probably been a Saurus so long that it wasn't really embarrassing anymore.

...heck, for all we know, it could've been his idea, using Aziza to communicate.

"So the Emir wishes to remain a Saurus until a dramatically appropriate time to reveal his true self. Better keep that special dispel potion on hand during the ceremony, Hero."
That raises questions about that slobbery greeting you receive from the Emir/Saurus upon purchasing him. Also, where did the hair come from that was used in the dispel potion? Sauruses or Sauri appear pretty bald to me.

The remake addresses this plot hole - if you talk to the Apothecary about the Saurus after you find out he's the Emir (but before you leave for Rasier, obviously), he mentions that he's going to look into a way to make a dispel potion that doesn't require hair.

Even if you don't do this, though, in the ending, the text changes to mention that it's a "specially prepared" dispel potion.

As for the slobbery greeting, well... the hero is an attractive man...
In the QFG2 VGA remake, you can skip him entirely and not save him. He's missing in the end. That was another plot hole they fixed, because in the original you don't need to save him either, but he's still present. :)
