I played the first two games using ScummVM without any issues, but now I'm having problems with the third.

When I go to the east side of the Simbani village with the balance beam an error message pops up and the game and ScummVM status window close when I exit it. The status window shows:

parameter 0: 002b:59c7 (reference, invalid), should be null, integer
[VM] kAbs[3d]: signature mismatch via method rm470::doit (room 470, script 470, localCall 0xffffffff)!

I fiddled with some of the settings in ScummVM but nothing seems to prevent this from coming up.

This isn't very far into the game, so I tried to restart with DOSBox, but when I try to import my character into it I get an error claiming it's not a proper QFG2 saved hero file. I've tried renaming the file and even replaying the ending of the previous game to save a new version of it, but it still doesn't work. I don't know if it has to do with it being saved from ScummVM or if there is something else going on, and I'm not eager to replay the first two in DOSBox to find out.

Any help getting around either issue would be greatly appreciated. Google has come up with nothing so far.

I've managed to get my character to import thanks to a post in another thread. I needed to open the saved file in WinRAR and extract a file that was in it. Very strange, but it worked.

I too am encountering this problem with Scumm. Not quite sure how to fix it, but just thought I'd try to bump this.

You could try making a new character in Quest for Glory 3 just to see whether or not the error comes up in the DOSBox version. Also, have you looked at the Import/Export FAQ in the forums here yet? In case you haven't, you can find it here:

It has a lot of helpful information and might be able to help you with your problem.

Oh I had no real problem importing, it's just the balance beam thing. Kinda makes the game unplayable.
I just had this problem as well. It seems to be fixed in the latest nightlies.

http://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.php?func=detail&aid=3528416&group_id=37116&atid=418820

Unfortunately, it crashed on me shortly after. I came here to find out if anyone had figured out how to remove GoG's fan patches, as ScummVM now shows a message on start recommending against their use.

EDIT: Nevermind. It crashes when you click your character on your stat screen. Easily avoidable.

I'm having the same problem, the game crashes when I go to the east part of Simbani village. A console comes up and then it crashes. Very frustrating. And yes I'm using ScummVM.
OK to make things worse I thought I should install the latest version of ScummVM and maybe it would work so I did (I had ver 1.3.0 and upgraded to 1.5.0). Well fuck, now ALL saved games disappeared mysteriously. That wouldn't be so bad since the place where it crashes isn't very far into the game but I had an imported Paladin from QFG2 and those saves are gone also I guess. And I've played through QFG1 & 2 at least twice so I'm not very happy at the thought of having to do that again!
