I would like to record a let's play of Quest for Glory 5 as I have done so for 1-4 now, however, when I load the game, it enters fullscreen mode, and this crashes my recorder. Is there any way to get around this? Some means of making the game go into windowed mode or a program that can record the game without crashing the moment the game loads? I'm currently using OBS (Open Broadcasting Software) to do this.

I had some luck with using DXWnd to run a full screen game Starship Titanic in a window. Maybe it'll work here.

Thanks, that did work. DXWnd seems to work for everything that full screens that I have except Dungeon Keeper 2.

For anyone else reading this, don't use DXWnd with QFG5! It breaks FMV playback, and the final boss involves two unskippable FMVs. If you can't record the game without it, you'll need a virtual machine or something. (Well, three - but that's one for winning (or defeating the boss in such a way that you still lose) and one for losing, so two)

Someone on the DXWND Forum found a fix for this. https://sourceforge.net/p/dxwnd/discussion/general/thread/a87a2118/#0b3d

Enable Expert Mode in DXWND (Under Options in the main window), Modify your QFG5 profile, goto Tweaks tab, find "win:NoMainWindowDestruction" on the list and add it. This should fix the FMV issue.

EDIT: Actually, included with DXWND now in it's Export folder is a premade profile you can import that has this setting.
