I've played the entire series (sans QFG5) a ton of times over my past 20 years (yes literally 20). At this point, I'm looking to bypass a bit of the stat grind, such as lock picking, etc. and just edit the values. I was able to easily do a hex difference on my saves in QFG1 and the VGA remake of QFG2 and edit what I needed, but apparently QFG4 is different. If I diff the same exact two games (the only difference being the fact that the second one was saved a few seconds later) there's a ton of changes. My usual tricks of finding the stat values in the save file don't work, and nor does this advice: http://www.sierrahelp.com/Cheats/QfG4Cheat.html regarding what to search for.

It's probably a long shot, but if anyone has advice on how/what to search for (or heck, even a game editor) I'd appreciate it. Otherwise I'll be slowly grinding while I await a reply and it may solve itself! Thanks.

Multiple byte stat values in QFG4 (and I figured for the other games in the series as well, but perhaps not) are stored in reverse hex, which means anything above 255 may confuse some memory editors.

In other words if you have a stat with a value of 256 (which is 01 00 in hex), it'll appear as 00 01 in memory. 300 will appear as 2C 01. I use a memory editor to cull all the spells QFG4 forces onto my imported paladins in this way.
