I know that people had a similar issue on the old versions of the game, but this seems that I cannot enter the Laibon's hut to pay the bride price after the initiation of my Pally.

I've got all the bride price items (5 Zebra Skins, Robe, Spear) but every time I go to enter I get the message that the guard is barring the entrance.

I'm really hoping that I won't have to restart the game to fix this, since I managed to grind a good number of my skills up to the max, but... yeah.

To be clear, you have used the dispel potion on the leopard(wo)man prisoner, right?

Sequencing in QFG3 is very picky. Sometimes you need to do something in Tarna before something completely unrelated happens in the Simbani village. Have you returned to Tarna and talked to the thief yet?

Oh, yes. Dispelled the leopard(wo)man's glamour/spell (that's how I know the bride price) and I've not only visited Harami, I've visited him multiple times and told him that Rakeesh will help him.

Found *a* solution, even though it's not a really *great* solution.

I reloaded to the Initiation Auto-Save, refinished the Initiation and before I told the Laibon what I wanted for winning the Initiation, I asked about the bride price and it let me give him the items before I finished up in the hut and got the Drum.

Right now I'm just trying to get in to give him the dinosaur horn. I have to keep dropping it and try to figure out what I've missed to trigger it and let the game allow me to go in and give it to him. I can get in there with the horn, but it won't let me give it to him.

Already spoken to Kreesha about dispelling her. Laibon has already tossed me out and told me to get a horn if I want to marry the Leopardwomen.

Have you actually dispelled the enchantment? I wasn't able to take Initiation until after I'd dispelled the glamour and knew about it.

If you've done that, I assume that you've also practiced on both the bridge and the spear area with Uhura, correct?

I'm learning that this hut is the *worst* for story progression stoppage.

Yeah, I had done all that. I recall what a pain visiting the Laibon's hut when trying to accomplish things was 20 years ago when I first played QFG3 after I got it for Christmas.

The problem was the dialogue. After the Laibon tells you about the bride price and bringing him the dinosaur horn he will kick you out. If you run and get a horn after that, you won't be able to go back in because there's a segment where you can only ask about leopardmen and marriage. During this questioning, you can only greet. There is no option to say goodbye.

If you don't have the horn, these two dialogues will rotate but you will never be able to get in and give him the horn if your next dialogue with him would be concerning marriage and leopardmen. You have to have the conversation and not return until you get the horn.

It seems like a programming flaw from an age gone by. I at least have the wits to figure it out now. The Laibon hut problem used to frustrate me when I was a teenager.

But QFG3 is definitely finicky on its timing issues. It used to be such a problem on faster computers before DOSBox as well due to timing issues with the processor (though the worst was always SQ4).

Now onto QFG4 once more. That's long been my favorite.

This ended up being the solution which worked for me. Even after I had waited several days after the initiation, I couldn't revisit the Laibon, so I ended up doing the initiation yet again.

I've been trying out the 1.3a patch, but there appears to be a bug where the log doesn't appear on the thorn puzzle. Fortunately, there is another solution: set the thorns on fire! I used my tinderbox and that worked to provide an alternate path through the thorns.

This has been frustrating how many issues I've been having with the Laibon as a Fighter, but glad that these community forums have helped provide some guidance for fixes to these bugs.

That's not a bug, actually, that's an intentional choice on the patcher's part.

I believe the log is set to spawn if you don't have the tinderbox? I'm not sure.

Literally same issue I am facing.
Got the horn (before I needed it, thought it would be something to sell).
Leopard person caught in cage.
Talk to Uhura about changing them back.
Go get the Dispel potion.
Dispel the Leopard person - turns to a female.
Talk of a wife. Talk to Uhura - she talks about wooing and such.
Talk to Laibon - give horn - do the contest.
First time, lost and I couldn't enter the hut. Thought it was because I lost.
So reload - set skill to zero during the spear and bridge - so I won everything.
Talk to Laibon - get the drums - he refuses the gifts for the price. ("Come back later")
So I figure it maybe needed a day - ended up coming back day after day - guard won't let me in.
So I run back to Tanara (sp?) - and go to the top - do the judgement thing
Visit the thief a few times.
And still can't get in the hut. I am at a loss, and very frustrated if this is a dead end bug. :(

Have you tried visiting the hut in different times of the day? I think you're unable to visit the hut first thing in the morning, but you should be able to visit the hut in the afternoon or just before sunset.
