So I just imported my sweet paladin from QfG2 and decided to leave town to bully the local wildlife. After killing an ant satisfyingly quick, I left to find more things to kill only to have the game freeze when I got back to the world map. It shows the window that displays the time of day and that's it. The game just stops responding.

Has anyone else had this problem? If so, have you found a way to fix it? I'll be really disappointed if I can't play through this game because of this.

it's possible that it's due to the timer that's initially there to make you see Rakeesh again. I would try waiting until Day 2 and after you've talked to the brother and travel with Rakeesh and see if the problem persists.

Also maybe just try again. It could be the timer went off just before you entered the map screen.

Save Early. Save Often.
Well I just restarted (no big deal since I was at the very beginning anyways) and it seems to be working fine now. I can't say for certain if it was the timer or not, but I can't think of anything else that could possibly have caused that to happen.

It was pretty amusing though. If I tried to sleep for the night while in the area instead of leaving to the world map my guy would run into the sky and sleep there. The game would crash once he woke up.

Thanks for the help!
I am experiencing this now. I'm unfortunately well into the game so it's not practical to restart.

In my instance, it freezes as I'm leaving the combat area. Is there any way to recover it?

I'm afraid not. I had it happen to me when I was killing too many monsters and going around too much. You could try lowering details, upping speed and messing with CPU cycles, but I think it's one of those unsolvable bugs if you encounter it. That's the main reason I save every day in QFG3, just in case something ridiculous like this happens. I generally avoid combat, save once for each monster to get the puzzle points as a fighter/paladin.

The same thing happened to me as I am more into the game also with an imported character. Is there really no way to fix this?

Not that I know of.

The game seems to have fewer bugs when you play it using ScummVM. Maybe you can start a new game using ScummVM?
