Hi, all - question about QFG1 as a Thief. I'm trying to get a full completion (500 points). You get 2 points for giving Cheetaur claws to the Healer, and another 2 points for giving Troll beard to the Healer...

So the hard part... How, as a Thief, do you go about killing a Cheetaur, let along a Troll? I mean... I can train at the goblin training grounds, but that seems like such a long, drawn out way of going about it...

Any help would be appreciated!

It is possible to fight them toe-to-toe, but it is ill-advised (at least until you get your stats way up). Best bet would be to throw some daggers at them to weaken them, and should you get into close combat, flee, get some distance, then throw more daggers. You should be able to wear them down this way, though it will take some time, and getting to a non-forest screen (Erana's Garden, City limits, Meep holes) means the monster will disappear.
I also think that you may be able to find some troll beard as part of treasure later in the game, but I'm probably mistaken about it, or it may be too late to matter.

Nope; there's a treasure horde that's guarded by a troll (and thus its beard can be thought of as part of the horde) but that's hardly helpful.

If you have magic ability, the dazzle spell could be helpful. Otherwise, its dagger throwing for you.

I ended up spending a bunch of time at the goblin training grounds and it really beefed up my skills. Now I'm able to kill cheetaurs relatively easily, so that's good news. Can't quite beat the troll yet, but I figure a little more time training with the goblins will do the trick. Thank you guys for your advice! I'll try the daggers... I haven't tried that out yet.

Update... Continued to train, and was able to beat the troll in a fight with the Thief last night! Consider this thread "closed." Much appreciated!
