I've just started playing QFG1 and am finding the combat really choppy. Is this normal? I emember being able to time the dodging with the animation of the enemy atacking. But it seems like i end up just mashing the attack key. Should i slow down the gameplay? or is there something else i can do? Im running the game in WIndows 7.
Thanks
I've found that holding down the keys tends to be the biggest culprit. Try tapping the key once. Don't tap rapidly or hold anything down, or it gets choppy like you described.
Hmm. Ill give that a try - Thank you
I have decent success with tapping the stab key, waiting just a second, until my arm returns, then tapping it again. Killing goblins this way almost feels like cheating. You barely need to parry/dodge.

Once you have half-decent stats, a fighter can cleave through any enemy in the game with just spamming attacks. Combat was never particularly difficult in the series, but the DOSBOX emulation does appear to cause some hiccups.
