I was having problems trying to export my character from QFG1. I read the forum and turned off UAC and restarted my computer. However, when I attempted to open the game so that I could try to make a character save file again, I found that all my game save files had disappeared! I have no idea where they went. Does anyone know the extension for the game save files or where I might possibly find them? I'm running a Windows 7 64-bit laptop. If I have to, I'll start my character over again with QFG2.

When you disabled UAC, the game now searches the local game folder for your saves. Since you have had UAC active when your other saves were created, they will be at the path they were saved at while you had UAC active. I hope that I have not misinterpreted your question, but if I have, please let me know.
I think I just made the directory c:, but I still can't find it. I've also been using the window search feature, but still can't find them. I was just wondering if the extension was .sav or something else for the game save files.

I am also using Win 7 64-bit and my saved games are here:

C:\Users\*your username*\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files (x86)\GOG.com Then look in the appropriate game folder. By the way, you must enable "show hidden file and folders" to access the VirtualStore folder.

I didn't change the save game directory when I installed and that's where mine are. If it's not there, it might just be located simply in My Documents (C:\Users\*username*\My Documents)

The file format is GLORYSG.DIR for the directory file and each game is saved with a consecutive number (GLORYSG.000, GLORYSG.001, etc.) Your import file should be called GLORYSG.SAV.

Thanks! I actually got a reply from GOG support (I accidentally sent in an email before I realized that I had meant to post in the forum). Not only did I find my save files, I also found my character export files as well! Hurray! Thanks Support and burf90!

No problem. I'm just glad you found them. Nothing more frustrating than having to start over in a game - even one you love. We put lots of hard work into our characters and don't like losing them! :D
