There's a puzzle with two skulls, each with levers to cause lights shining through their eyes to move up or down, and then a handle to acknowledge each combination.

I could never figure out how this one worked or which combinations to use, so I had to look up the answer.

However, I checked 3 different guides, and NOT ONE of them actually explained WHY the answer is what it is!!! They all say to look at two different charts that show the positions, but both charts just show circles with vertical, horizontal and/or diagonal lines through them. As far as I can tell, the chart with 4 symbols from left to right is implying that each of those symbols can represent numbers 1 through 4, implying which light to use vertically on one side or the other (either left or right), but the other chart with a 2 by 4 grid shows circles with TWO lines through them!

So after checking all of the guides that I could find, I concluded that NOWHERE on the entire Internet does it actually explain WTF this puzzle is about or why it works the way that it does. I guess I'm supposed to just magically understand it with absolutely no possible intuitive reasoning at all! Either that or there is some form of intuitive reasoning and all of the 3 people who have ever written a strategy guide for this game just happen to be the 3 stupidest people who have ever lived, and they don't understand the concept of explaining things!!!!!

So someone please tell me the rationale for this puzzle before I lose my mind and smash a hole in the wall!!!

EDIT: Never mind; I just figured it out. I think I'll go stab myself in the eye now. Still, they NEVER explained it AT ALL, and for that they're stupid, stupid, STUPID idiots, and there should be some law with an incredibly SEVERE punishment for not explaining it correctly, because it drives people INSANE!!! Anyway, if anyone wants to know the answer, the chart with the 2 by 4 grid shows the positions of the lights, but if there's a line then it matches which phase uses that position, so if there are two lines through a single circle then that particular light is used in two different phases. Also, circles with no lines through them represent light positions that aren't used at all.
