I want to edit weapon damage/character/enemy HP. Any idea how to do it? Modding Quake seems to be awfully complicated D: .

You need a copy of the game code (written in QuakeC) and a compiler to create a new progs.dat. Wikipedia article on QuakeC. There is a version of the code with a fix for the fish bug.

I don't have a lot of time right now, but I hope this general information is helpful to you.
