I have the Quake II (Remastered) on multiple platforms.

My question is:

Is there any way of connecting two platforms using command line?

With Quake (I) I can start a local multiplayer match on a console, such as my Switch and use the "connect [IP ADDRESS}" command to jump into the match on my laptop.

However, trying to use the same command in Quake II; I get some message about that line being 'depreciated' and use the 'kexmultiplayer' command.
However 'kexmultiplayer' doesn't seem to want to connect to the game running on another device.
I've tried a few different "uses" of the 'kexmultiplayer' command including trying to direct the connection to the IP of the console I am trying to connect to.
It seems to do something, as the game enters some kind of connection mode, but doesn't actually link to the other platform.
Nothing seems to work.

Is it possible to get the PC version of Quake II (Remastered) to connect to another platform at all?

All I want to do is be able to play LAN multiplayer between my Switch and laptop when I visit my brothers.
Split-screen is fine and all, but having a dedicated screen each is far better.

If it's not possible; I can accept that, but if there is a command I can input on my laptop to connect it to another platform I am very interested to learn what it is.

there might be a way but, you need to match the 2 versions for it to work. check the version numbers. if they do not match, you need to alter one of the games until it match. i got the same message about the command being depreciated when i tried it on pc but, it did work. here is the thing: it never works on the first attempt. it works on the second.
