Hi

Is there a config-setting, that allows, to disable that
crazy "slide-effect" ? If you move and side-step the Game
continues that moving for a moment. It feels like sliding
on soap. And so one runs and stuck at walls.
It would nice to know what game you are thinking, but in Quake one it is possible, but it is a cheat.
Increase sv_friction as your pleasure; probably 9 is what you want. Be careful that if overdo you slow down the main character. You can also play with sv_stopspeed

However, I find this a strange request. Try to go outside run as fast as you can and stop instantly... The Quake behavior is quite reasonable.

Thank you. sv_friction works suitable for me.

I think, my question is not strange at all. Such games
are played in many ways. Most players have their own
likes and dislikes. Keyboard-settings, mouse-behaviour etc.

Why do u think, my request is strange ?

I like to play with speed, so I am almost always running. But
then this slide-effect is annoying.

I've forgotten almost all things about quake1. I've played it
years ago with win95/98 SE.

As etb said, because it is unrealistic to be running at full speed and then stop instantly. Though with many aspects of games being unrealistic, if you are in single player then change it to suit you, but it is definitely cheating in multi player as all players should be held to the same rules and physics.

It's a server side variable. All players follow the same rules.

Either way, if thatsme isn't interested in playing multiplayer, it's not a problem. Otherwise I would strongly recommend to get used to the default physics.
At the moment I am just playing singleplayer. But good to know, what I shouldn't do, if I go to multiplayer-mode.

Thanks for tips. makes sense.
