In Dark Places (the Quake 1 source port), I've noticed an audio glitch when shooting the super nailgun.

It should have a nice, beefy BANG each time the gun fires, and that's the only sound the gun should make.

However, instead of playing the sound of the super nailgun correctly, there's an additional distorted clicking noise.

Here's a video I found on Youtube that also demonstrates the distorted clicking noise.

It happens with different versions of dark places as well as the normal and SDL versions of the executable (although the SDL version is MUCH worse and the problem also happens with the regular nailgun when I run that version.)

I tried changing many of the effects settings to see if it would fix the issue (disabling impact and sparks effects, for example, but those only disable the visual effects. The distorted clicking sound is still there).

If I run another version of Quake (not dark places), the super nailgun sounds right and there is no distorted clicking sound.

How can I fix dark places so that shooting the super nailgun sounds right? I like the graphical upgrades and want to use dark places, not some other source port, so I'm looking for a fix, not a different engine.
I'm not sure what to say but I've tested a couple of different builds of Darkplaces with the vanilla WinQuake and GLQuake engines and Darkplaces' Super Nailgun firing sounds is very close to how it sounds in the vanilla engines from what I can tell though I haven't done enough tested to confirm any clipping audio in Darkplaces. You can possibly try using the console command snd_speed ##### and set this to your sound systems' sound frequency (e.g. 48000 for 48 KHz) or snd_channels # to set Darkplaces to use the same sound channels as your speakers (e.g. 2 for stereo).
I've tried adjusting every sound setting through the console. Nothing helps. I've tried it on new and old versions of the Darkplaces engine and they all have the same audio glitch. Other source ports don't have this issue.

Does anyone know a solution or have any ideas?

I tried contacting the person who made darkplaces, but I never received a reply.
