I'd love to finish the first game, but the crashing is so bad its taking me out of the game. Sometimes I get a crash ever 30ish minutes. And the game will crash whenever I boot it up unless I restart my pc every time.

There is a recap at the beginning of the game and in the Extras menu where they explain to you what happened in the previous game, so you dont really need to have finished the first game or the In Rombus of Ruin VR game.

Is there anything that will fix the crashing?

If all else fails, you could try watching a longplay of the game. It's worth experiencing (and frankly some parts of it were so imbalanced and janky that a longplay might've been preferable).
