Since many of the characters in the game speak, shall we say, oddly in various ways, I have to turn up the volume quite loud in order to catch what everyone is saying. I haven't found a subtitle setting anywhere. Does this game not have any?

I got this game on Steam... wasn't available on GOG yet :'( but I have to guess both of the PC versions are the same. If you open the Options Menu (hit the space bar... it's in the journal) and click on sound... you can turn the music down and leave the voices up and there should be a box to check for subtitles.

You're absolutely right. Thank you. I can't believe I missed that. I could have sworn I've checked every menu in the game, including the sound menu. Oh well, I have my subtitles now :-)
