I'm getting quite frustrated with the boredom aspect in the game. It's constantly popping up, no matter what my character is doing. I had some chicken cooking and was reading a book on cooking and the boredom icon still popped up. My character is multi-tasking, but still gets bored?? It's the zombie apocalypse! You don't have time to be bored when you are trying to survive! The developers either need to get rid of it or at least reduce it's frequency. What purpose does it serve??
Boredom accumulates as you sit inside a house for extended periods of time. To reduce it, best thing to do is go outside and find a zombie to kill or go cutting down trees or crafting things. Basically it's there because otherwise you could accumulate all the town's food and water supplies, knock out the stairs of your house, and fast forward through weeks and months like in the old builds. Right now all it does is give you unhappiness, which only makes actions slower, but I think it's planned to have your character be able to become insane if you leave your unhappiness high.
I can understand that line of thought. It is just that it pops up the boredom icon when my character is actively doing things that should not trigger boredom.
It also depends on your character makeup. I had one character that always needed to carry books with them due to constant boredom/sadness as I played her. I can't remember the trait combo that caused this, I do know that it was the only character that had the obese trait but I cant be sure it was that alone or in combo with another. my other characters I have played with, some for well over a year in game hardly gets bored and when they do it rarely goes into sadness even while studying
Boredom = not moving, staying inside.

Go outside, run around.
They tweeked boredom in the update. It's a little less aggressive now.
