I saw a Reddit thread indicating that single player worlds are persistent. However, playing the Mac version of this game, I had a whole thing set up at Cortman Medical. Died, hit Continue on the title screen, and my new character was, by some minor miracle, just down the street from Cortman Medical. However, none of my stuff was there, including barricades and sheets, and even a part of the house that has burned down was rejuvenated and fresh. Are SP worlds not actually persistent, or am I doing something wrong?
I believe they are only persistent in sandbox. If you play a scenario like the first week or whatever, then it is not.
I think on the main menu you have to click on "Load", then select the savegame you want to continue and then click "Play". If you died a new character creation screen will open and you should play in your old world.

This is correct.
Interesting. Thanks, guys!
It's important to note though Apps.....if you are taken down by a hoard, that hoard will still be there waiting at your old safehouse. I tried so many times to reclaim Fort MacKay......now I realize why I died in the first place! There's hundreds of them.

I just gave up and let them keep my stockpile. I don't like beans all that much anyways.
