I've been trying to create a LAN game for awhile now and can't seem to figure out what I'm doing wrong. I (and the people who want to play on my LAN) are running the GOG version of the game over Windows.

I launch the server from the ProjectZomboidServer.bat file in the directory and everything looks like it's going okay. I can connect to the game without issue. The server info I create is:

Server Name: Test
IP: 127.0.0.1 (Also attempted "localhost")
Port: 16261
Server Password: None
Description: None
Account Username: Roahin
Account Password: ******

Yet no one on my local network can see the server when it's been created. We've all disabled firewalls, virus protection, et cetera. I feel like I'm probably missing something obvious here, but for the life of me, I can't figure out what it is.

It seems all the advice online is for Steam or using Hamatchi, and therefore not applicable to us.

[EDIT]: Also, if it matters, the server reads:

*** SERVER STARTED ****
*** Steam is not enabled
server is listening on port 16261

This question / problem has been solved by EnigmaGreyimage
Your friends, whom are behind the same access point as you (router, mode metc.) will hvae to use the LAN IP of your computer, rather than 127.0.0.1. Servers created in this manner will probably not be visible on the public server list, either. They'll have to enter the information manually.

To find your LAN IP, you can either check your router's status page, or open Command Prompt then type ipconfig It should be the ipv4 address.

Oh, of course!

Yeah, that got it working. Thanks!

I have also been trying to get LAN running and that is great, but my question is how would someone put in my IP? If I don't show up on the public servers, how do they find me? Do they have to go to some command to look for me like I had to do to create my server? If that is not clear I could ask another way. Suppose I have created a server and my roommate wants to join me. What is his process to join?

Thanks
To find your IP for a LAN server . . .

You can either check your router's status page, or open Command Prompt then type ipconfig It should be the ipv4 address.

For non-LAN servers . . .

All PZ servers listed as public in servertest.ini (Public=true) will try and communicate with TIS's server list. These are visible after pressing the Public Servers button under the Servers option within PZ. Note, if you do change this value in servertest.ini and the server is running, be sure to type reloadoptions in the terminal.

If your server is properly communicating with the Internet, it should show up here.

If your server isn't public, you'll have to supply the IP of your computer to them. You can get it by simply googling the word "ip" without quotes.

General server things:

Just a note, guys: when shutting down the server, type /save then /quit to shut it down cleanly. If you're entering this in the terminal, rather than in-game as an admin, just omit the forward slash.

They click ONLINE. Then in the ADD SERVER screen, they'd type in your IP address, Port, Server Password, etc. Then they click Save, and then at the bottom Join Server.

We've rolled out a new update for the game (version 33.20), please make sure you and your friends all update the game before playing again :)
