Is there a way to use a more updated java version instead of the packed in the game? or the game automatically load my installed java, and only use the bundled one if it's not present on the system?

Modify the bat file to point to the absolute path of your Java install, instead of using the one provided in the Zomboid folder. It's not really worth the the effort, though.

This may also not be possible if the game is run from GoG provided exes or through Galaxy.
