I was just wondering if anyone knows what the current state of crossplay between steam and GOG is for zomboid, I have it on GOG and my friend has it on steam. Initially I couldn't see his game and he couldn't see mine. after he changed the white-list to disabled I could see his game but I couldn't join it with a "connection failed" error. He could see my game but couldn't join.

I suspect port forwarding is required for me to host but he tells me that he has previously hosted successfully for another steam user so his pc is set up right. he tells me he was hosting using the non steam server method outlined in a guide there.

Before I go messing with ports and such id like to know if crossplay is confirmed to work.

Thanks

non-drm client and drm client can join the non-drm server.
only drm client can join the drm server.
each client requires dedicated port on server.

thanks, it must be a fort forwarding issue then, ill try that
Sure, you are welcome!

Try the tiny mod I wrote if you feel like it, it will make your collective gameplay much more convenient as you'll be able to repair the improvized stone axe and hammer at least 20 times before they break. In vanilla you can't repair them, which makes zero sense. It also makes foraging skill to pay off and overall makes things much more fun. :)
