I've got several hours in now. I'm having a blast. I just wanted to drop some feedback here, I know this is a work in progress. For the record, I'm super excited for the game though and loving it so far. I really enjoy the pacing/speed and gunplay. I can't wait to see how it continues to develop and hopefully none of this comes across as negative-- I appreciate the development time/tears that go into a work of love like this. This game is a gem! I own the first game on another platform and have sunk a decent number of hours into it as well.

Onto the silliness!

1. I would really like it if the map/automap wasn't tied to difficulty.

Maybe make the map an optional toggle vs it being tied directly to the difficulty. I personally want a ton of mobs-- and I want them tanky so I can really enjoy the gunplay. But I HATE fighting the damn map. Maybe add an achievement for people who play/beat it without the map? Initially, I hated the larger levels. And I still prefer the style of the first game's levels to this. BUT the map makes it very tolerable.

2. The secondary fire upgrades for the MG/Shotty (Flak and Burst) feel very lackluster.

Half the time I forget they are there. The shotty seems to work decently but I SWEAR the MG fires just as fast/accurately with the alt fire. Just doesn't really feel any different.

3. I'd like to be able to "respec" the weapons.

I think it would allow for more depth in gameplay if you could respec at certain points of the game. I don't know if the current vision is intended for replay value, but I feel like the game is going to be decently long enough to be stuck with one build of a gun. It would be nice to be able to mix/max trees (or allow stacking of all four upgrades-- I mean-- we're not talking realistic here, right?
