Berzerk2002: Where does the game save these files?
The game data is saved within the windows Registry. :)

What exaclty does that mean? If I would like to make a manual backup of the save files where would I have to look? I just don't want to lose my progress when installing a new version of the game.

The game settings data AND the save game data?

Using the registry to store save game data seems rather risky and unsafe for the OS.

It is not the first game I have encountered that stored the save and config data in the registry.

The game Valley did so as well. I never encountered any issues around it. Games and other software always store data in the registry. Just usually not save data. I dont feel there is any risk to the OS

The game is saved separately, no worries about changing to new versions :)
To provide a more complete answer, the path to these things within the registry is: `HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Buckshot Software\Project Warlock`.

My question to the developer is why? Why have you stored the save data here? Can you provide some reasons?

- We can't sync this with GOG Galaxy.
- We can't easily move this save data between machines that we might play the game on.
- Save data isn't easily backed up wtih the rest of our documents (for those users taking backups).
- There are no Linux/macOS versions, yet, but this doesn't seem very portable if you were planning on that.
- If you need to re-install the OS for some reason, you're almost certain to lose the registry and the save data with it.

Can we expect you to change this at all? It seems like quite a bad decision.

Thanks.

Will future versions have a separate save file to backup?

I was able to export the registry file from the path you provided and then import the file to a different computer after installing the game.

Hi,

we'll see about that, It would require a lot of changes in the game, I'll take a look into this issue after the main issues are resolved.

Best Regards,

Cloud save support would be really nice to have.
