I have not yet purchased this, but I was wondering how the co-op would work on the PC version. Is there split-screen? How does the networked MP work?
No split-screen, sadly, AFAIK.

For me, the game works flawlessly on multiplayer. Thankfully the devs had the foresight to build the game around TCP/IP (instead of the now-essentially-dead IPX) so it still works without any hijinks, at least for LAN play. Enable it in the windows firewall and you're good to go.

Multiplayer comes in 3 modes: rover race, competitive and co-op campaign. IMHO the competitive stuff isn't the game's forte. Rover is fun but co-op is where its at. In the original game, however, there was a glitch with multiplayer that progress wouldn't be properly logged so there'd be issues with resuming a saved game. The answer to that was to enable cheats and "level skip" back to where you'd left off. I don't know if the GOG version fixes that...yet ;)

As I confirmed today, while the option to enter specific IP addresses on the "find games" page is provided it is not mandatory, the search function found my test games without assistance.
I guess my question was... Is there a server list? Or do you just have to connect by IP address? I'm assuming you mean there is a server list with this statement:

I've already played all the way through the game on PS2 with a friend, so I know how great the co-op is. But I would love to play it again on PC, as it took us across 2 years to finish it, and it's been a year since then, so I don't remember much of the game anyway. :P I would love to find people other people to play it with.

I don't recall any competitive modes on the PS2 version, so that is an interesting addition.
Hi, I've been having issues connecting to coop games as well. I've been able to do it twice so far with Hamachi, if one of my friends hosts, but when we connect to him we all either have latency issues or one player can't move.

Are there specific ports to forward or what? I tried a netstat pass and forwarded a few ports posted by that but when I go to host a game my IP still shows as my local network IP. Even then with local IPs, I can't host a server on LAN with my brother who is indeed on the same networked router as I am.

It makes me sad, cause I love this game to death, was one of my favorite games to play on the PS2, but when I saw it for PC I grabbed it because I thought playing with 4 players would be great.. but at this rate I'd be happy with just 2 player LAN...

Also - VRMLBasic, what do you mean "As I confirmed today, while the option to enter specific IP addresses on the "find games" page is provided it is not mandatory, the search function found my test games without assistance"

It will search your LAN for games and generate a list of them. It also lets you input an IP address and search that in addition to your LAN.

However there does not seem to be a "global server list" or anything like that, as far as I've found :(
Gentlemen! The only way I've found to make this work is using Tunngle. It's rather complicated to understand, but once you figure out how to join a "lobby", you just find the Project Eden one (which never has anyone in it). It basically simulates a LAN environment, kinda like VPN stuff. When you host, you select the IP address that doesn't start with "192.168." etc. (It should start with "7.") Then if your friend uses Tunngle, joins the lobby, and starts multiplayer on their copy of the game, they should see your game on the list after a few seconds.
