I was under the impression that as long as you don't miss a single target in video mode you go to the next level. Is this limited to just two levels?
Also if you don't get hit a single time by a mine, and don't miss a single target you get your reward for completing the level doubled, so level 1 earns you 50 million, level 2... well I never made it through the second level without being hit & also collecting every target.

I usually run through both levels perfectly and it ends at level 2. That's where it's supposed to end really, you get your extra ball for getting all the targets and a decent amount of points for perfecting it and then it takes you back to the game. The extra video modes are bonus levels really, since you can only get them by either slipping up on your first two balls, or getting lucky with scan.
You'll pretty consistently be scoring 150,000,000 on video mode before long. I'm always crap at level 3 if I get there, though. It's a lot harder, and there's not nearly as much opportunity to practice it.
I still have this one on CD, although I played only a bit back then, and never touched it again. (I bought BIg Race here on GOG and I will soon be buying Fantastic Journey).
audio issues aside, I have already "tamed" Big Race flippers, but I still have problems with Timeshock, especially with the left one: I can lock the balls without much trouble with the right flipper, but Quickshot is a pain to do correctly. unfortunately, I prefer the Timeshock table, I like it because it's a bit more traditional. Big Race seems to focus a lot on missions, getting the combos right and video mode stuff. Timeshock has its share of video stuff, but most of the time you will be playing instead of buying stuff. I'll try to get my father to play one of them, but he didn't like video mode that much in Timeshock, and I think Big Race would be worse.
let's see what Fantastic Journey offers, by the screenshots it looks a mix of the other two.

Minsc: ...I can't believe there's a 4th level to the video mode, I wish there was a youtube of someone getting 4 perfects, that'd be a feat to watch....

Ok, here it is. I've mixed a video of all four video mode levels perfectly played. Just a note: I am by no means a Timeshock expert, my best score is only around 6 billion.

Very nicely done! I've never seen video mode level 4 before and I've never completed level 3 perfectly.
At 6 billion points I'd say you are pretty good. Is the old Empire PP ranking still up? Anybody know?
Cheers!
