It happens that someone ("When I find out who, I will have a very special cell for him!") is ordering staff meals regularly, even that all my staff is fully satisfied, all my serving tables in the staff room are covered with ready-to-take portions (each on-the-table stack having between 3 and 6 portions), and even that there is already over 60 unpacked portions in the delivery area. (You can see it on the attached screenshot - one of the boxes in the delivery area has 40 portions, the other ones have between 2 and 4 each.)
A new delivery truck with another box of staff meals arrives just a short moment after the previous one leaves.
All this with total of 10 people - 3 workers, 1 cook, 1 gardener, 1 janitor, and two administrators: accountant, and me - "The Pacifier".
My money notification is like: "$28 Cashflow; -$30 Staff meals". Pretty optimistic, isn't it? :-/
I have seen this happening before, in some of my previous playthroughts, but since these were much larger prisons, I wasn't sure if it's a bug. Now, with this pretty small one, it is obvious, that the amount of ordered meals is INSANE!
I was looking over some old forums, and it looks like this bug has been reported several times, but it has never been taken seriously or understood properly. It stops being visible once you have your staff large enough, that it eats more than arrives, or if you constantly keep growing faster than the orders are growing.
I have tried to see if it isn't connected to the number of serving tables - initially I had only 1 table (= 4 places for meals). So I have bought one more, but it did not change anything - the meals are still arriving, and I'm not even sure if not in even larger quantities.
So, my theories were:
- the ordering procedure of meals just ignores all the meals already lying in the delivery area, (That's why I hoped to stop it if I increase the number of serving tables - to increase it more I need money, which I don't have)
- the ordering procedure of meals takes into account everything - meals on tables, in the delivery area, etc., but maybe someone made a typo, and it is satisfied only if there is not e.g. 2-3 spare meals per person, but 2,000-3,000 ? (Then a reaaaaaallly large delivery area might fix it)
- the ordering procedure is tied only to the game time or something equally inadequate, (Then there is no hope)
Has any of you any insights into this bug?
P.S.: Sorry, it looks like something on the GOG side does not work, when I try to attach a screenshot (several times). In the browser console I see a request being made to gog.com/ajax?a=uploadFile, the request body length is correct, as per the size of the image (slightly above 1MB, I see the note about the limit being 2MB), and the response is "200 OK".
Yet, the attachment is not visible.
So, I'm sorry, but you won't see my beautiful slow-start, environmentally friendly prison. :-(
