The game's attitude seems to think that throwing hordes and hordes of brain-dead AI enemies at you qualifies as an interesting and challenging fight. Also, they made it where you have to keep Farah alive, despite the fact that she forgot how to walk away from enemies that are beating up on her. The last 2/3 of the game is just one long escort mission, because Farah hardly helps out in combat. I've had several situations where she even shot me to death. She's just one big load the whole game, and the long and tedious combat sections that I have to repeat over and over and over don't help.
Most of this post comes out of me venting because of the elevator fight. The fight would be relatively easy except for keeping Farah alive.
Yeah, combat definitely wasn't a strong point in SoT. The combat itself I actually didn't mind too much as I came to view it as a slower-paced tactical battle rather than your typical action-game combat (carefully choosing positioning, waiting for openings between enemy attacks, using enemies against each other, etc). However, throw Farah into the mix and things just got ugly; she was a great character, just not someone you wanted to have around for combat. Finally getting close to the end of a difficult fight just to have her shoot an arrow up your ass got me pretty close to rage-quitting on several occasions.
Here is the truth: combat is good, fast and fairly easy but you have to learn it.

Some pointers:

- Use block often
- Counter if you can!
- You can counter with the dagger, it's an instant kill if you manage to do it
- Use the walls to your advantage! Jump on a wall then press the attack button: the Prince knocks down every enemy type in one hit except the ones that can block the attack.
- If you are surrounded, find a better tactical position
- Fighting close to Farah is one of the worst things you can do. Enemies usually teleport to where you are so only help Farah if she cries for help and she's already lost half of his health.
- Farah helps if she's not shhoting you in the arse! :D Her arrows knock down enemies and that leads to easy kills.

I found that Farah is only shooting at you "accidentally" when you spend a lot of time in block stance. If you fight fast and move around enemies she doesn't shoot you.
