Hi there. Is there a reason that I can't find out the elevator code after I talked to Alpha and Beta in the giant robot head? I know they gave me a code but I thought I would be able to repeat the conversation to write it down.

Is the design in this game really that clunky? I am asking because I am not sure if I want to continue to play the game if the rest is designed like that. I hate using walkthroughs.

Every piece of information you need is stored in the datapouch, which is accessible via the toolbar or by pressing "D" on the keyboard. You use the arrows to scroll right and left, up and down. The data is (generally) grouped by who gave you the information.

We went with that route because repeated dialogue tends to annoy me, and providing the player with the data directly seemed less laborious and more forgiving, since if you remember you need the data and you're no longer able to reach the NPC (as will happen later in the game), you'd otherwise be stuck. The goal was to replicate the old school gameplay in which players kept notes, but without actually requiring them to do so manually.

That said, if you're not enjoying the game, you should stop playing it! Life's too short to be unhappy about a game!
