**UPDATED FROM THE LAST POST!!!!
Powerslave Exhumed looks amazing in its own right with the default shading settings but it CAN look even closer to the original Saturn version with a bit of tweaking. I've spent a few more hours tweaking the visuals via the subtractive shading setting and these new settings are now 99% accurate to the Saturn visuals. The remaining 1% is due to different light and shadow mapping.
Shadow Intensity: 50%
Shadow Contrast: 9%
Darkening Strength 0%
Gamma Strength: 30%
Desaturation 0%
Optional Tweaks below; be prepared to modify/and or backup game files for some of these! Tweaks with a "*" won't work on console, sorry about that.
SATURN VIEW/JUMP BOB: In the game options part of the options menu, change the view bob from 5 to 2 and the weapon jump bob from 20 to 8.
*SATURATED BLUE ANUBIS ZOMBIE PROJECTILE COLOR: Go into the folder where the game's .kpf file is, use 7zip to open the file archive, navigate into the "defs" folder, opens the "actors" folder, and open the "projectiles.txt" file. Do not extract it. NOW, simply change the lightcolor value under "proj_anubis" to 0.15, 0.15, 1.0. Save and close the file, and it should ask if you want to apply the changes to the file in the archive. Click yes to apply the changes and that's it!
*SATURN PISTOL SPRITE FIX: Go into the folder where the game's .kpf file is, use 7zip to open the file archive, navigate into the "defs" folder and open "weaponinfo.txt". Look for "Weapon Wep_Pistol" and change the "OffsetY" value from 232 to 238.
*SATURN PISTOL SFX: By default, the game uses the low quality PSX sound for the pistol when fired. I recorded the higher quality pistol sound from the Saturn version via emulator and cleaned it up in Audacity. You can download it here: (remove the space between https and the ":") https
://drive.google.com/file/d/135b1Sl7W1_YacXT74D6pm9gZaiz6teZq/view?usp=sharing NOW, to replace the sfx, open the game's .kpf file, open the "sounds" folder, and look for "pistolfire.wav." If, for some reason, you want to keep a copy of the original file, extract it out of the archive in a safe place and rename it to be something like "pistolfireOG.wav". Now, simply take the new sfx file and drag it from wherever you downloaded it straight into the archive. It will ask if you want to replace it, so click "yes" and that's it! Enjoy the new pistol sound!
*REMOVE TRANSPARENCY FROM AMMO/HEALTH ORBS: Same as before; open up the game's .kpf file as an archive using 7zip. Navigate into the "defs" folder, open the "actors" folder, and in the "items.txt" file, look for "Actor Item_Health", "Actor Item_Ammo", and "Actor Item_Power". Change the transparency value for each of these from 128 to 255. Save and close the .txt file, and it will ask to apply these changes to the file in the archive. Click yes and it will be applied.
*REMOVE TRANSPARENCY FROM AMMO/HEALTH PICKUP SPAWN ANIMATION: Open the game's .kpf file, open the "defs" folder, then the "actors" folder, and open "effects.txt". Look for "Actor Fx_HealthSpawn", "Actor Fx_AmmoSpawn", and "Actor Fx_PowerSpawn". Change the transparency value under these from 128 to 255. Save and close the .txt file, and it will ask to apply the changes to the file in the archive. Click yes and it will be applied.
*REMOVE AMMO/HEALTH ORB GRAVITY: Not sure why you'd want to do this since Ammo and Health can be stuck in unobtainable positions without gravity applied, but if you want to, you can remove this effect. open up the game's .kpf file, open the "defs" folder, then the "actors" folder, and in the "items.txt" file, look for "Actor Item_Health", "Actor Item_Ammo", and "Actor Item_Power". Change the gravity value under these from 0.25 to 0. Save and close the .txt file, and it will ask to apply the changes to the file in the archive. Click yes and it will be applied.
