I bought Postal 1 the day it was released years ago (good thing because my local Comp USA stopped selling it 24 hours later!) and I still have it but I'm tempted to get the GOG version. Aside from not needing a disc, is it worth it? I know it has added levels but I'm a little vague on those. I'm probably also going to pick up P2 despite some so so reviews because even people that don't like it admit that it has a lot of just screwing around blasting people and that to me sounds like a winner! :D Thank you for any replies and let me say I think it is so cool that there are enough people twisted enough and laid back enough to keep these titles going strong!

Postal has some issues with controls on modern PCs - it's a bit like Zoolander with a character that can only turn in one direction if you're using keyboard control. There are some workarounds, but different people have had different levels of success with them.

My cd rom version is kind of screwy in that regard.

I even had this issue when I first bought Postal and played it on a fairly old machine (300 MHz I think). A patch for this issue can actually be found in this sticky thread. Has worked like a charm for me on the two machines I have played the GOG version on so far.

Edit: Ah shit. Just noticed that the site is offline now. Don't know where to get the patch now. Hope some user is gonna re-upload it.

I'm gonna probably pick it up this Friday. If you happen to find another link for that patch let me know. Thanks
If you do get Postal 1, you are going to have control issues and the left turn fix that was previously posted may not even work right. I say that because when I tried it on my copy, it fixed the issue but made every character spin around constantly. There is a control scheme to play it without the patch but it may be a bit weird to use at first.
I found a page that says GOG has a hot fix option for the turn problem in their support section but as I don't actually have the game yet I can't check to see if it's there. If anyone who currently has Postal gets bored and wants to check please let us know. Thanks

I just tested the patch provided by GOG. Sadly it does not work well. It does slightly improve things but turning right is still like three times faster than turning left (at least on my machine, others may get better results but I wouldn't count on it).

I found a P1 patch of the Runnig With Scissors archive page and the damn thing won't even install. I tried finding a way to contact them via email and that seems somewhat impossible. I can always play this with the mouse, I just don't want to.

Using the mouse isn't THAT bad. I remap the keyboard to make TAB the duck button.

i'd just like to be able to play it on the keyboard.
