I can't believe people are giving this a good rating. That fact really supports some mainstream media gamer clichés.
This game is not funny, it's not a good game and I am disappointed in Gog for rating it a "Good, old game".
If a game was controversial does it mean it was good? No it doesn't. This game is the equivalent of a Harmony Korine movie....badly made and made just for the shock factor.

Don't rate a game down just because it offended you...

It's meant to offend you, and it shocks me that people don't get offended while watching South Park yet this is "OMG OFFENSIVE AND NOT FUNNY". It's meant to be fun and stupid.

Also, unlike Postal, Harmony Korine films are boring, dull and quite pointless (At least Postal is trying to make a satire out of many things), just like Lars Von Trier's Antichrist...
A game that satirizes American Gun Culture, Violence and everyday life offended you? Oh poor dear do you want a tissue?
I agree. The humor in the game is bad and it's definitely not a master piece.

However, I still enjoyed it immensely. It's mindless fun pure and simple.
That is the joke, it's all Satirical humor, it isn't something you take literally.

This game is good because it doesn't take itself seriously. Maybe you should do the same.
I can't disagree with OP's assessment. Postal 2 was a game clearly produced on a shoestring budget and boy does it show. But for a such a game, it is in many ways ahead of it's time. When Postal 2 was released, I don't recall any FPS's that were trying to do interesting things.

And then here comes this game. It makes a stab at free-roaming gaming. It includes liquid physics (the most obvious example of this is peeing on people, but the most impressive is really probably the flammable petrol). Impressive for a game based on the Unreal engine - there are still very few games that enable this level of simulated emergent detail.

What makes Postal 2 work though is that it's really a response to the controversy, rather than being the cause of it. Postal 2 was basically created to be the game that parents would warn their kids about... the fact that it actually wound up so unique among the generic titles the rest of the industry produced that year speaks volumes about the validity of the complaints.

I was not offended by the game, get that it's supposed to be satire, but the gameplay is pretty weak.,and the over the top humor ceases to be funny after a couple of hours.

totally agree.

p.s.
how did u post it as "comment"?
I find it pretty funny that all who "oppose" my opinion of this game in this thread do it on the basis that I was offended by it. Never did I say that and I sure as hell wasn't. It´s just a really, really bad game.

If you don't like the gameplay, call it an art game and try to enjoy it from that perspective.

There's plenty of ammo for folks who want to slam the game. There were times, especially in the expansion where I thought it got god awful. I don't think anyone can successfully argue that it works as a straight up shooter.

To me it's the equivalent of a Troma film. I don't think I've ever seen a Troma film that could be called "good" or one that had decent humor in it.

However, like Troma films, there's a spirit to Postal 2 that makes the game fun. I love the idea that you can try to accomplish every day errands without violence or you can explode into a whirling ball of unthinkable carnage. I like the bizarre quality of it. It is what it is and doesn't try to be otherwise.
