Hi, I have a funny problem with the water textures, both in the menu page and in-game. the sea is covered by horrid white spots. it doesn't affect the game, but it looks very ugly. I have tried to use a lower water resolution settings, but I still see those spots.

Try running the game in Admin mode...
I'm having the same problem, but I am running the game in Admin mode. Any help?
I'm running it on Win7 with XP compatibility on, disabled visual effects, disabled desktop composition and disabled display scaling on high DPI settings.
You probably don't need all these settings on, but it's 2 in the morning, so I don't really feel like finding out the exact settings that solve this problem.

Disable visual theme in the compatibility option of the game, the water bug seem to be due to aero, I got all graphic option on and it working perfectly once I got visual theme disable. (only thing I seem unable to correct is a single line in the water when in harbor.
i am getting boxes in the sea like a grid. disabling aero or visual themes didnt help. any other ideas?

An old thread but applicable to me since I just bought the game.

Run the Port Royale configuration app ("Configure Port Royale 2" under the Start menu) and check all the boxes. That worked for me under Vista without having to do anything in Windows for compatibility.
I had the same bug, ran the "configure port royale 2". checked the box named "compability mode for water reflections". and everything works perfectly now.

You just made my day. Thank you!
where do you find the 'configure PR2' file? on vista..

Start -> All Programs -> GOG.com -> Port Royale 2 -> Configure Port Royale 2

Or you can find the executable here (if you install to the default location)

C:\Program Files\GOG.com\Port Royale 2\PR2Config.exe
Hi, I have this kind of problem on windows 7, tried most of the solutions here (I just don't know what an aero is aside from a delicious bubbly chocolate bar, being a PC gaming newb/moron) but nothing seems to help, the sea is a mass of blue/white staticy pixels. Not game breaking at all, but if anybody's got a windows 7 fix, I'd appreciate it.
Ok, so all of these suggestions failed. On windows 8, I decided to try turning off Compatibility mode. ( I had it on Windows 98/ME) I then clicked "Disable display scaling on high DPI settings." This makes the game work perfectly. I made sure to do the config tool as well, but it didn't help until I turned compatibility mode OFF completely.

Hope that helps someone!
