The Installation of the game went fine. When I try to launch the executable, the game doesn't launch, as if nothing happens. When I try it again, it ask me first if I want to replace with the older instance, as it already runs. No matter which answer I give, nothing happens. (If I say "yes", it tells me that "PR2" is already running and that I can have only one game running.

Interesting, when I go to Windows Task Manager, it's listed under "Process" instead of "Executables".

Just to make sure are you running this from either the start menu or desktop shortcut?

If you are and its still not working could you please post your system specs and OS?

I'm using Windows Vista 32 bit.

I'm using an Acer Aspire M5640, which has the following specs:
Processor: Intel Core 2 Quad CPU Q6600 @ 2.40GHz
Memory: 3 GB Ram.
Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT

Please let me know, if I'm forgetting something.
Have you tried setting it to run in windows XP compatibility mode? To do so just right click the games shortcut and click properties. Then go to the compatibility tab and you can set it there.
Yes, I did! I also tried to run it as Administrator, but so far there are no differences.
It's still doesn't work. If no one knows the solution, does anyone know whom I should contact for a possible solution?

How long have you waited for the game to load up? Maybe it just takes a very long time.
Anyway, this is a really odd problem. I suggest reinstalling the whole game, running the installer as admininstrator, to see if it works after that.
If it still doesn't work, you can get technical support from GOG themselves, by contacting them here (and hoping for a quick reply...).
Seems to be working now. Thank you all for your efforts, even if it didn't help me at all.

I don't know what it was, I think it was due to the fact I have updated my drivers, which is strange because I've updated them only a short while-ago. Maybe something went wrong, but it still amazes me how an executable is being run as a process rather than an application in the Windows Task Manager.

I also had the same problem with this game. Been having the same problem for way to long. Just updated my Video driver and now it works. If i had of read this post before I may not have needed to download this game form this site. But never mind...
My Spec.
Vista 64, Intel i7, 12GB, NVIDIA GTX 260(driver version was late updated on 01/03/2010, now 07/04/2011)
necroing this post as its the same issue im having

Tried uninstall reinstall
Tried compatibility modes
Tried installing the 2010 direct x advised in the trouble shooting
Tried updating graphics drivers

Gave up
Had the same issue. Try to launch the game directly with the executable, not the installed shortcut (which does gogwrap). Right click on the shortcut and go to the folder, then find the executable called PR2.exe, right click on it and do compability mode of Windows 98/ME (yeah no kidding). Then launch it.

I think this is an issue with the display driver of ATI (game won't work above version 12.3)

just came here to post what you did.

If you get a boxing of the sea (can see right down to the sand with all the fish, pretty but annoying) run the config (PR2Config) from the installed location and tick the compatability mode for reflectors and try that, worked for me
Just tried going to pr2. exe, setting compatibility to 98/ME, but it didn't solve it for me.

I'm running Win 7 64
ATI 5700 with updated drivers

Anybody else have this problem and solved it? I'd love to play this game again, but am getting pretty frustrated (and don't particularly want to do a driver rollback from 13.1 to 12.3).

Thanks in advance!
I bought in the sale, but no chance for me to launch it. ^^

Win 7 64 bit
HD Radeon 7800 series with latest drivers

Unfortunately its my first purchase on gog and it doesnt work :(
Will there be a fix or something?

Well, not my first purchase, but second game that I am unable to run. Similar / same specs:
Win 7 64bit
Radeon 7870
Intel i5 3570K
16GB RAM

Now, to make it interesting for a 9 year old game:
Two screens. One with 1680*1050 and one with 2560*1440.
I Can Has Cheezburger?
Well, I've tried to downgrade to 12.3 drivers, changed system resolution to 1024, I've tried every single compatibility setting, have uninstalled, redownloaded, reinstalled... pretty much done everything I can think of... but no luck.

Was super excited to start playing this game again (it was one of my favorites back in the day) but I guess that isn't to be. Or at least, not until I can find an xp machine...
