When playing the game my mouse scroll speed and arrow key scroll speed is lightning fast and impossible to use. My friend has the game and his scroll speed is slower and more manageable. I have a macbook pro and he has a dell XPS 1210. XP vs. Vista if that helps as well.

I don't think there's anything to do about that, it all seems to boil down to how "beefy" a graphics adapter is in your system, and possibly also the available amount of RAM.
Your Macbook Pro probably has an ATI Radeon X1600 built in, whereas your friends XPS at best has an Nvidia Geforce Go 7800 - and those two are barely comparable.
You could of course try one of the several "slowdown" utilities available, but I'm not sure what the result will be.

I have the same issue. There is a simple work around for this though.
Press and Hold the Middle Mouse Button and you can move the screen around at the speed you desire.
I know it is not an exact fix, but it sure does make the game much more livable and fun.
