Hi, I recently downloaded this game after giving up trying to find a solution to the vista compatability problems. It downloaded and installed fine yet now when I try to play the game it goes through the videos and then an error pops up saying, "Cannot find translation files', some sort of what I think is an Ascaron error analysis program appears, and then the game crashes.
Anyone else have this problem?

Maybe the game is corrupted? Did the installer pass its integrity check (the progress bar before you see the actual installer window)?
Running the game by right-clicking it and selecting "Run as Administrator" might be worth a shot, too...
And if that fails, post your DXDiag file so we have more to work with.

I have the same error tried what your suggesting stumpy, i also tried downloading and installing again to no avail, i have now reported the problem with a helluvalota info and hopefully will be able to post a solution soon.

Just tried running the game for the first time & saw there hadn't been a solution posted so putting up what i did as had the same problem aswell.
First tried a couple of things that didn't work, like running the config prog. Then eventually decided to try adding it to the DEP list, which seems to have solved the problem.
So hope this helps anyone still struggling to get the game running.

Did you alter the file pr2_arcs.cpr ? I suppose that this file might be corrupted.

I sure do. From the get go. haven't figured or found an answer yet. Have you?

didn't see reply posts when I posted this- afterward saw the one about DEP. Added those exceptions and seems good now. Thanks!

Thanks for pointing this out.

DEP - Data Execution Prevention

Found in the Performance Options from System Properties window.

Turn On DEP except those select: Find game exe and add the exception.

I'm having the same problem with my game-

The DEP exception list doesn't seem to have any effect for me, the game still comes up with the same crashes.

(I have reported this to GOG)
